International Biennale of Contemporary Art
The International Scientific Committee for the Fourth Florence Biennale invited
Brad Noble to participate in the exhibition held at the historic Medici fortress
Fortezza da Basso in December. Noble was one of 900 artists worldwide invited to
exhibit his work. The Florentine Biennale joins together all forms of culture along
with the artists exhibiting at the Fortezza. An exciting program of performances
and conferences, concerts and special events runs parallel to the Exhibition.
Artists were chosen based on their innovation and creativity in various media including
sculpture, painting and photography. The international jury included Barbara Rose,
Veronika Birke, David Rubin, Stefano Francolini, Matty Roda, Teresa Ortega Coca and Dore Ashton.
The underlying theme of the Biennale was dialogues between civilizations and was sanctioned
by the United Nations.
